September and October were big transitional months. During September the fishing was tougher than normal. We used live minnows to catch crappie in brushpiles in 10 to 20ft of water. We continued with plastic worms and crankbaits for bass in 8 to 15ft of water. We had many successful trips in the heat, but we’re glad when October rolled around. During October we transitioned from trees in 10 to 20ft to trees in 10 to 12ft. The crappie started moving shallower as did the bass. We fished shallow rocks and stumps in 6 to 12 ft of water for largemouth and smallmouth.
