The last week on Priest has offered both active and slow days of fishing. Water temperature is now 64-67 degrees and near 2ft below summer pool. The crappie are moving into shallow water 4ft-15ft on the upper end of the lake. Fishing the river channel ledge near Jefferson Pike Bridge produced a 35 keeper stringer of quality white and black crappie! Both live minnows fished 2ft-3ft off the bottom and casting 1/8oz jigs with Crappie Magnets in Chartreuse/blue flake and Pearl color have been productive. Mid-lake fishing brushpiles in 10ft-20ft was slow last week with minimal bites. The bass have been concentrating in 2ft-5ft throughout the lake. Rock boulders and flat to bluff transition have been popular locations. Shallow squarebill crankbaits in shad color pattern and Texas Rig craw fish has been productive. With the water temperature in the mid 60’s make sure you have topwater lures tight on for the next cloudy day! With cooler weather moving in and the water temperature in the low 70’s and dropping, the bass and crappie are starting to move into shallower water! The last 6 days have bass have biting well! I have had clients from Rhode Island all the way to California. The bass are being caught on platics crawfish, lizards and worms fished on swing head jigs, shaky heads and texas rigs! The crappie have been biting fair, but seem to be turning in deeper water now that the water is warming up and the spawn is almost behind us. Strong current, heavy fog, and pooring down rain this morning, but what a morning it was on Tims Ford lake! Me(Trey) and Kyle Nevison found some hogs! Tearing into the A-Rig and jigs. Saturday BCGS guide, Ben Malone, fished the 25th annual Frostbite tournament out of Fate Sanders today with Brandon Deaton. They rocked it winning 1st and 2nd at the the first weigh in, 2nd in the third weigh in and 1st place overall!
