Today I hit the lake with Billy Harris, one of my good friends and old guides from the last few years. Fishing up lake we found the bite to be very slow. We only caught a handful of fish, but did manage to catch on nice largemouth on the last cast of the day. All fish were caught on drop shot and crankbaits.Today I fished with John, Riley, and Jack Flanigan from CA. With the cold temperautres we headed up to the steam plant on OH to try our luck in the warmer water. The fishing was pretty good, we caught tons of skipjack, several whites bass and a couple of stripers(we only got one in the boat though). Thanks for another great time guys!Today I hit the lake with Jacob to scout for some active bass. The fish were tough to find but after some searching we found an area that produced around a dozen bass, including some nice smallies and largemouths. All fish were caught on jigs and soft plastics.This report is not for a trip that I guided. Instead it is a report of a giant crappie that one of my clients caught. Check out this slab!Today the Hagman and I hit the lake for a beautiful yet windy day of fishing. We fought hard to stay out of the wind and was successful most of the day. Fishing with minnows and jigs we caught 42 crappie and was able to take home 15, including a pair of white bass. Thanks for another great time Jerry!Today I fished with Chris and James. Fishing for bass we had a tough day with only 4 fish until the end of the day when we caught 8 little ones. James did catch this nice largemouth and Chris lost one even bigger early in the trip. All fish came on crankbaits. Thanks for a great time guys!At the same time as my trip, Jacob took out two great guys that were visiting Nashville. Fishing for bass they caught over 15 fish, including several nice largemouth and smallmouth bass! Glad to hear that you guys had such a great time together.Today I fished Phil Chambers from Franklin, TN. Fishing for crappie we had a great day with around 30 caught and 10 keepers. Phil also caught a 10-12lb striper on 4lb test line! Thanks for great time today Phil!Today I fished with Hans Schachtschneider from Hermitage, TN. Fishing for bass we had a great day with around 17 bass inlcuding several nice keepers. We also lost a 3+ and 5+ , one at the boat and one during the fight to the boat. After last weeks great trip Jerry decided to come out again not only to catch a bunch of crappie, but to enjoy the beautiful weather. For the day we caught 58 crappie, including 22 keepers. Thanks for another great trip Jerry!Today I fished with Bob Hodell from Columbia, TN. Fishing for bass we had a pretty tough day. We fished mid lake and up lake, both shallow and deep. We did manage to catch around 10 bass including these two nice ones at the end of the day. All of our fish came on crankbaits. Thanks for a great time on the water Bob!Today I fished with the one and only Jerry the “Hagman” Hagladge from Nashville. Fishing for crappie we had another great trip with over 60 fish in total….33 crappie, including 17 keepers! It was a cool, windy day on Percy Priest. We had to search to find areas that were calm enough to fish. Fortunately we found a couple areas that produced many fish. All of our fish came on live bait and jigs from depth of 2ft to 20ft. Thank for another great trip Jerry!Today I fished with Rick Gleadall from Mount Juliet, TN. Fishing for crappie we had a great trip wth around 50 fish, including 25 keepers! Some of the crappie were shallow and some were deep…they seemed to be scattered. Thanks for a great time on the water Rick!Yesterday I fished from 1pm – 5pm with Peggy and grandson Franklin. Fishing for crappie we caught around 25 fish including 10 keepers. The crappie have moved shallow and the fall bite has started! Thanks for a great time out on the water guys! – Before my trip with Peggy and Franklin I went out and bass fished for 30 miutes and caught these nice two largemouths!Yesterday I fished the morning with Wyane and Art. Fishing for white bass, hybrids and bass we had an okay day. Overall we caught around 10 fish, including several nice whites and one hybrid. The tough part of the day was beign around thousands of feeding fish that were reluctant to bite our baits. Every second there was a surface blow up over here and over there in the pocket we were in. Thanks for a great time on the water guys!Today I fished with a gemtlemen that was practicing for a big tournaent. For the day we caught around 12 bass, including 4 keepers.Today I fished with Gene Hughes Jr. and Sr. from Chattanooga. Fishing for bass we had a great day with around a dozen in the boat, including several nice keepers! We also caught a few hybrid and white bass. All of our fish were caught in depth from 18ft-30ft of water.Thanks for a wonderful time guys!This morning I fished with Tracy and Trail from Cookeville and Fairview, TN. Fishing from 6:30am to 10:30am, we caught around 35 crappie including 15 keepers! Out of the 15 keepers, several were in the 12″ range! Thanks for a great time today guys!This morning I fished with Shane and Seth Sanders from Mt. Juliet, TN. This trip was a gift for Seth’s 10th birthday. The first four hours we caught and released several dozen crappie, including this GIANT Shane and Seth are holding up. The remaining of the day we chased after bass. Casting crankbaits and topwater baits, we caught around a dozen fish. Thanks for a great time today guys. Thanks for a fun time on the water guys!This morning I fished with Bob Hodell from Columbia, TN. It was a cool morning, but the fish were biting so it helped take our minds off the temperature. Fishing with crankbaits, we caught around 15 bass, including one 5 pounder. The water temperature is down into the 60’s, by the end of the week when the 80 degree days come back the bass should be really active! Thanks for a great time today Bob!This morning I fished with Mike, John, Hayden and Wyatt. Fishing for crappie we had a great trip with over 30 fish caught , including 15 giant keepers! Thanks for a great time today guys!Yesterday I fished with Larry and Nick Pittman from Mufreesboro, TN. Fishing for bass the first half of the trip we caught around 10, including two decent ones. Later we fished for crappie and had great success. We caught over 25 crappie with around a dozen keepers. Thanks for a great trip guys!Yesterday was a long day that started before sunrise and ended after sunset. As long as the day was, it flew by due to the activity we had. My first trip was with Paul and Sunny from Lewisburg, TN. Fishng for 4hrs, we caught over 50 fish, including 24 keepers! Keeper number 25 was our biggest fish of the day that broke off while swinging in the boat. This crappie must have been over 15″ and near 2lbs. But what a fun day we had, thanks for a great time guys!My second trip was with the Hagman. After such a great morning trip, I had great expectation for another great trip with Jerry, but did wonder in the back of my mind if we could catch that many again. Fishing from 1pm – 6:30pm, Jerry and I made history again. During our time on the water we caught over 50 crappie , including 33 keepers! What a great day. My arm is going to be tired for a while. Thanks again for a another super trip Jerry!Today I fished with Joe and John from Spring HIll, TN. Fishing for crappie we had another great day. We caugh tover 60 fish, including 24 keepers! All of the fish were caught on minnows in 10ft-18ft of water. The crappie are on fire……we caught all of these fish in just 4 hours – don’t wait, call today to book your trip! Thanks for a great time today guys.This morning Steve and I went back out after the crappie. Fishing from 6:30am -10:30am, we caught over 55 crappie, including 18 keepers! The crappie are as active as they have been in a while! Thanks for another great day Steve.Today I fished with Steve Donnelly from Gallatin, TN. Fishing for crappie from 7am – 12:30pm, we had another phenomenal day. Our total number of fish caught was near 75 and we successfully boated just under 30 keepers! I am not sure what makes the big ones bite somedays, but they were biting today! Out of all the keepers we caught, around 20 of them were between 12″ -14″….now those are some slabs!!! See you tomorrow for round two!Over the last two days Jacob and I had the pleasure to get back out on the water with Jess and Mark Carr from Chicago, IL. This was their second time out with BCGS and each time we have a blast together. Yesterday I guided them on a crappie and bass trip. The bass were tough to come by with just a handful of short fish, but the crappie were biting really well. We caught around 30 crappie with 12 keepers. Today Jacob had the privilege to guide Mark and Jess for bass in the morning. Fishing with crankbaits and poppers, they caught and released several short bass, one keeper. Jess caught the big one of the day when he landed this 4lb hybrid! Thanks for another great trips guys, see you in October!Today I fished with Dana and Jack. Fishing for crappie we had a great day with over 75 fish, including 22 keepers! Around 10 of our keepers were giant slabs in the 12″-14″ range! All of our fish were caught on minnows and jigs. Out of the 15, Robert had a nice 5 pounder and a few other keepers. One of the most exciting, yet frustrating moments of the day was when I hooked into a 7+ largemouth. I fought it up to the boat, it jumped several times and as I went to lip her, it jump again and threw the bait…..I could hear my heat break. Nevertheless, I had wonderful time with you Bob and look forward to our next trip together!Today I fished with Erin Franklin from Hermitage, TN. We started at 3pm in the pouring rain, but thankfully it stopped shortly after we began fishing. Casting crankbaits and topwater baits, we caught around 10 bass. Thanks for a great time Erin!Today I fished with Paul Bergoffen from Massacchuttes. Fishing for bass we had a great trip with around 15 bass. All of our fish were caught on crankbaits, topwter and jigs. Throughout the day we found bait schooled up all over the lake. Many times there were bass feeding on the surface that were reluctant to bite our baits….I hate that. The bite was tough, we caught around a dozen bass, including three nice keepers. Thanks for a great time today!Today I fished with Matt and Jamie from Nashville. We started the morning chasing after bass with topwater baits. We were able to catch around 8 bass, including this nice smallie Jamie is holding up. The next two hours we fished for crappie. Using livebait and jigs we reeled in around 25 crappie with 8 beautiful slabs. Thanks for great time guys, looking forward to our next trip!Today I fished with the Hagman. We had our best day out on the water this year. We caught a total of 90 crappie and ended up with 36 keepers! The water temperature has dropped into the 70’s and the crappie are active! Thanks for another great time on the water Jerry.Today I went out in the morning for a few hours of trolling. The stripers and hybrids were biting well! I caught several small hybrids and some largemouth bass right off the bat. Later I caught these two giants. The fish seem to be biting better everyday now that the water temperature has lowered. The highlight of the day was when this 24.5lb striper slammed one of my rigs. Mornings and evenings are the most productive right now. Fishing for crappie we had a super day with around 60-70 fish, with just under 20 keepers! With the cooler temperatures and clouds, the fish were bitting really well today. Fishing for crappie they caught between 30-40 fish, including 10 keepers. All fish were caught in depths of 5ft -15ft on brushpiles on minnows. Glad to hear you guys had such a great time! Fishing from 6pm – 10pm we caught several walleyes, including two nice 20″ keepers. The bite seemed to pick up right around sunset and continue into the night. What a fun fish to catch and great fish to eat!Yesterday evening Jess and Jeff came out with me again, this time in searh for some striper/hybrids and hopefully some topwater action for bass. The first spot we hit we caught 8 bass(both largemouths and spots) on cranbaits and poppers. As the sun began to fall we moved locations to a deep ledge where the stripers and hybrid have been schooling. There we caught a couple white bass and hybrids, including this giant hybrid Jess is holding up! We also lost a giant that broke the line. Thanks for great time on the water today guys!Yesturday William, Jacob and I went out from 6pm – 9pm in search for some stripers and hybrid Fishing with crankbaits and live bait, we reeled in multiple stripers and hybrid and broke off on a few giants. We were also able to catch several bass including this nice 4lb smallmouth!Today BCGS guide William Brow and myself went down to Normandy to try our luck with the walleyes. Fishing from 5am-9am we caught and release a handful walleyes and bass trolling. We were unable to get any over the 16″ mark, but were excited to see a few swing into the boat. Tomorrow we will be going in the evening, rumor has it that the evening bite has been good! Do not wait, call today to book your walleye trip.Today I fished with John, Jacob and Zack. We started the morning trying our luck for bass. We caught a few here and there on topwater baits and crankbaits. John hooked the biggest fish that has come out of my boat since the spring, a largemouth between 7lb – 8lb, but unfortunatley it shook the bait right at the boat….tough one to see get away. The remaining of the day we crappie fished. The crappie were biting really well with over 40 caught, including 15 keepers! Our numbers were high, with over 30 fish for the 4 hours we were out, including 10 keepers. We did lose several keepers at the boat, so we maybe could have had 15 keepers. Fishing for bass we had a great morning with over 30 fish, all caught on topwater! The next few weeks the topwater action should continue to be really good on the mornings, a great time for a half day trip. Around 8:30am the heat cranked up the fishing slowed down. For the next few hours we caught one here and one there. At one spot Kevin lost a 6+ largemouth right at the boat after it took a jump out of the water….I hated that for you Kevin. Towards the end of the day we located some more active fish on rocky channel drops and caught several more nice bass on jigs. Fishing for crappie with had a great day with over 50 crappie, including 15 keepers! I am not sure why the smaller fish were biting more than the larger fish, but we had a blast catching everyone. Most of the crappie were too small to keep, but we did have a few nice keepers. While crappie fishing we were able to catch this giant hybrid! Halfway through the day, we switch over to crappie. They were very relcutant to bite. We did catch quite a few little ones, but not many keepers while fighting the holiday traffic. The morning started with a bang, catching 2 keepers first thing on crankbaits. After a while we picked up our plastics worms and continued catching fish. Fishing for crappie and white bass we caught tons of fish. The first couple hours of the trip we fished for crappie, catching several small ones and a few keepers. Then we ran up on a large school of white bass feeding on the surface. Casting crankbaits and jigs we start reeled in on one after another for over 45 minutes. Thanks for a great time guys!Today I fished with crappie fanatic Jerry the “Hagman” himself. This was our first time out in a while, we both had high hopes for the day. The last few weeks the crappie have been biting okay, but not as good as I would like. Today Jerry and I had a break through trip with over 40 crappie, including 20 keepers(10 of the keepers were over 1lb), in just 5 hours!!! This trip was for Celeb’s birthday, last week he turned 5. Fishing for crappie we had a great trip with 25 fish, including 5 keepers! Celeb had a blast reeling in almost every fish. The crappie have been acting kinda weird recently. They are not deep into the 18ft-20ft range, like they normally are. Instead, we are finding them in depths from 10ft – 14ft on brushpiles and some still have eggs in them. Thanks for a great trip guys! Celeb you did a awesome job reeling in all those fish…HAPPY BIRTHDAY!A few days ago BCGS guide Ryan Davis took Leigh Wilkins (former star of the MTSU Golf Team) from Murfreesboro out for a eveneing on the water in search of daytime crappie and some night time bass. Even though we had to hide from a couple of storms we still managed to catch over 15 crappie with 9 keepers before dark. and Yes, Leigh did catch more than her guide even though this was her first time ever fishing for crappie! After dark we broke out the black lights and started hunting for some bass and managed to find over 20 with 4 keepers including a 5 pound small mouth! Leigh is a fast learner when it comes to fishing and did a great job reeling in all those lunkers!!! She had a great time and even though she out fished me, I did too!!! Fishing for crappie we had a good trip with around 20, including 10 keepers. Most of the crappie were caught in 10ft-14ft of water on minnows and jigs. While cleaning the fish I found that 70% of them still had eggs…interesting. Thanks for a great time today guys!Today I fished from 7-11am with Mac and Vivian Mckanna from Nashville. During the few hours we were out, we were able to catch schooling white bass, largemouth bass and crappie. We caught more crappie then the other species, with around 16, including 12 keepers! The topwater action was a little slow, so we move into deeper and starting casting worms and jigs. For the day we caught around 15 with several keepers, including a 4lb largemouth lost at the boat. Throughout the day we caught around 15 bass, picking one up here and there. After serveral hours of bass fishing we swithch over to crappie and found them to be a little more active. Today I fished with Angie and Stephanie from East Nashville. This was a trip for Angie’s birthday….and what a trip it was. Fishing from 6am – 10:30am we caught 15 bass. All fish were caught on topwater and soft plastics. Thanks for a great time today guy. Happy Birthday Angie!

Yesterday I fished with Carol Nixon and Eric Johnson from Brentwood, TN. Fishing for bass we had an okay day with 18 in the boat. We never really found a concrete pattern, we seemed to pick up one here and there. We were fortunate to hook into a 3lb smallie and a 5.5lb largemouth on soft plastics! Eric hooked the giant with just minutes to go in the trip. He did get the big fish of the day, but Carol won the quantity award. Thanks for a great time guys, I really enjoyed my time with you.Jacob also had a trip with Tony Smotherland from Murfreesboro, TN. Tony is the owner of Tennessee Outdoors Magazine, a well established magazine that promotes hunting and fishing in Tennessee. I have been fortunate to write monthly articles for Tony the past year and am thankful for that priveledge. He is a great guy and one I hope to spend more time on the water and in the woods with. Fishing for bass, they caught around 30. They had success with jigs and worms all day long. Jacob had a great time with you Tony….he can’t stop talking about next months issue. Fishing for bass we had a good trip with 18, including several nice smallmouth again. All fish were caught on soft plastics and crankbaits. Todd also caught this giant catfish on a crankbait! The Wilts come out with me often and each time we have a blast, but today I would have to say was our best trip every. During our four hours on the water we caught around 40 bass, including several big smallmouth! All fish were caught on soft pastics. I later found out that it only took 8lbs to win the Sunday morning tournament out of Fate Sanders. Today would have been a good day to be in a tournament. The next few days as the water lowers out of the trees, the fish will become less scattered and more active. We are just a few days away from great summer crappie fishing…I can’t wait! Thanks for a great time Carl.Sunday I fished with Mike Seal from Virginia. Fishing for bass we had a great day with some larger fish! For the day we caught around 18 bass. Half of the fish that we caught were smallmouth. All fish were caught on jigs and worms. The water is finally down to a point that the fishing has picked up. It will become even better as the water continues to fall down to normal lake level (I estimate that will be in less than a week). At that time, the fish will be less scattered and back to their normal patterns. Thanks for a great time on the water Mike! Today I fished with Dennis and Finn Mullins from Murfreesboro. Fishing for bass we caught between 15-18. All fish were caught on plastic worms in 4ft-12ft of water. Thanks for a great time today guys!Today was my first day back out on the lake since the flood. I have to say that I enjoyed my time off, but feel like I am going through fishing withdrawals! The water has lowered to a safe level where I can start guiding again. Today I fished with Brad and Brandon, two regular clients of mine. Fishing for bass, we went back to areas of the lake that were productive last spring when the lake flooded. We found active fish and caught around 10 in the few hours we were out (we probably lost just as many). All the fish that we caught were small, we never found fish with any size but had a great time on the water enjoying every bite. Thanks for another great time guys. Following the same pattern from the past few days, we caught over 25 bass! Most of the bass were between 1lb-2lbs, but we were able to catch a couple around 3lbs. Fishing for bass we had a great day with over 30 bass including 4 keepers for about 12lbs. The clouds were covering the sky and the wind was high, so we fished crankbaits and topwater in windy coves and pockets. At our first spot, we caught several crappie, but mostly small ones. Then we moved locations and tried our luck bass fishing. RIght off the bat we caught several small fish and two nice 3+ largemouths. Shortly after Bricen hooked into this monster 5.5lb largemouth. The rest of the evening we caught several more on crankbaits and topwater. Thanks for a great time guys. Our main goal for the day was to allow Cole to reel in as many fish as possible and I beleived we accomplished our goal. My second trip was with Bruce and David, two old time friends that grew up together. David now lives in Texas and is visiting on business and Bruce lives in Murfreesboro. Fishing for bass we had a good day with around 18 bass! Most of the fish were between 1lb-2lbs, but we did manage to catch one around 2.5lbs and lost another 3+ at the boat. Casting jigs and minnows, we were able to catch over 30 crappie with 15 keepers! In addition to the crappie success, we found ourselves surrounding by schools of white bass and hybrids. The Lord blessed us with a phenomenal day with dozens of bass including several 5 pounders. We had five keepers for 17.72lb and was able to finish 2nd in the Fishers of Men tournament and 1st place in Murfreesboro Outdoor’s tournament! I will never forget this day!Thursday I had the privilege to reel in on of the biggest fish I have ever caught on Percy Priest. Below is a beautiful largemouth around 8lbs!Today I fished with Tom and Cory from Nashville. Fishing for crappie we had our best trip of the year with over 40 fish, including 27 keepers! After hearing how last weekend was so tough and very few anglers did well in the tournaments, I set out for what I thought was going to be a challenging day. The first hour was a little slow, with three small fish. Then I changed my pattern and was fortunate to find some better fish. For the day, I caught around 12 bass with four nice ones. My best five would have weighed around 12.5lbs!Saturday I fished with Mark and Randy from the Nashville area.
